Implementing Salad Bars in schools is one of the fastest ways to create fresh food access to all students purchasing a reimbursable meal. In fact the "salad" can be much more than greens and fruit. By utilizing USDA Commodity brown box items like diced chicken, tuna, egg products and grain products the Salad Bar reinvents itself as a reimbursable meal. Using the bar to introduce children to foods in their raw states and educate students' palates by offering some special seasonal salads makes fast work of transforming the cafeteria into a classroom enjoyed by all every day. Want a salad bar in your school and need help getting started? This information comes from http://www.thelunchbox.org/resources/salad-bar. For more information, click on the web site.

*Monday September 27th Has Been Declared*
FAMILY DAY
A DAY TO EAT DINNER WITH YOUR CHILDREN
MAKE TIME FOR DINNER…..MAKE TIME FOR EACH OTHER
Things You Could Talk About!
Ask everyone to share their favorite part or biggest challenge of the day. Exchange memories about your favorite family pastimes. Discuss an activity the family can do together and then put it on the calendar. Cell phones
The facts are on the table: eating dinner together every night keeps the doors of communication open. It’s the perfect time and place to reconnect and to show your kids that they are your priority. Sitting across the table is where and when you can find out more about your children’s likes, dislikes, and daily life. Having this information can help you direct your children toward positive activities and behavior, reducing the likelihood that they will get involved with alcohol, tobacco, and/or illegal drugs.

I (Barbara) would like to comment on the below newsletter:
As I read this newsletter of Dr Norm Shealy I have to admit that I got very angry and had to do some serious work to get out of my emotions.
Some of us, many of us, did a good job of alerting others about Equal and aspartame only to find out that we are playing games. And the game is,” let’s change the name to protect the innocent, oops I mean to protect the guilty.” I guess that our public education was effective and they had to change the name when it was know how poisonous Equal is then it gets this nice sounding name to fool us, well some of us are still awake and are sounding the alarm.
I have had several clients drinking Diet Coke with symptoms of auto immune diseases, migraines, MS and lupus. One such client went to visit her daughter who refused to let her have her diet drinks for 10 days and she returned to tell me that her MS symptoms were gone. Her remark was “Barbara you were right it was the diet coke, I did not believe you for it is FDA approved. Our government would not poison us. Or would it? You have opened my eyes. I am responsible for my own health.”
When Ronald Reagan was president he appointed his friend Donald Rumsfeld head of the FDA. Rumsfeld came straight from Monsanto to the FDA so that he could give FDA approval and open the door for Monsanto to dump aspartame into our food supply while making huge profits at our expense. We are paying for it with our very lives and our health.
Wake up and open your eyes America. All the health care or disease care in the world cannot protect you from your life style.. Most of the problems come from poor choices.
May we listen to our bodies and give them what they want and need to stay healthy.

Subject: ALLERGIES and the COCA TEST
Poison DUNG by any other name is still poison!
Un-EQUAL is changing its name to AminoSweet, another deception by the chemical toxin pushed on the market by former Secretary of War, Rumsfeld. It aggravates hypertension, migraine and epilepsy and prevents weight loss. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY ANOTHER FALSE NAME!
ALLERGIES & THE COCA TEST ©
by C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Arthur F. Coca developed the Coca Pulse Test over 40 years ago. His book is in the public domain and available at
http://www.soilandhealth.org/02/0201hyglibcat/020108.coca.pdf
Unquestionably it is the most accurate way to test for allergies. To make it simple, check your pulse before you get out of bed. Then check it 30 and 60 minutes after each meal. If your pulse goes up 10 points or more when you are not exercising moderately, you are allergic to something (or in poor condition). Now if you are on a beta blocker, your pulse may not respond!
Diseases of allergy are:
Recurrent headache
Nervousness
Migraine
Dizziness
Constipation
Canker sores
Heartburn
Epilepsy
Overweight
Underweight
Irritability
Gastric ulcer
Abdominal pain
Gastric pain
Nervous and emotional
Instability (neurasthenia)
Abnormal tiredness
Indigestion (vomiting, gas, nausea)
Neuralgia
Sinusitis
Hypertension
Hives
Heart attacks (angina)
Asthma
Hemorrhoids
Psychic depression
Diabetes
Chest pain
Gastro-intestinal bleeding
Conjunctivitis
Nosebleed
Colitis
Excerpted from "The Pulse Test" by Arthur F. Coca, MD
http://www.soilandhealth.org/02/0201hyglibcat/020108.coca.pdf
In other words, allergies lead to inflammation, irritation and can cause or aggravate essentially any illness. I trust the Cocoa test over all others for determining allergies. Once you know you have an allergy, it may take a week or two to determine which food is causing the problem. I suggest you read the complete test in the book, as it does require more than the simple version I mentioned above to work out the total food allergens BUT IT IS WELL WORTHWHILE! Incidentally, if your pulse is consistently, at rest, above 76, either you are in terrible physical condition (couch potato) or you have something wrong. It could be allergens in the atmosphere. And remember that caffeine raises the pulse up to 36 hours! Nicotine is a shorter pulse stimulator.
The most common allergens are wheat/gluten, milk products, eggs, citrus, peanuts, almonds, cashews, soy, fish and shellfish, yeast, chocolate and molds. If it is molds, be sure to look in the archives at THIEVES.

Peter S. writes "It's amazing what the human spirit can create sometimes..." He is describing the event below, truly amazing fields!
Every year, farmers in the rural town of Inakadate, Japan, create rice field art by using red rice in with their regular rice in special patterns. A few other fields in rural Japan also followed the trend of this beautiful rice field art.
The murals in Inakadate cover 15,000 square meters of paddy fields. From ground level, the designs are invisible, and viewers have to climb the mock castle tower of the village office to get a glimpse of the work.
The farmers create the murals by planting little purple and yellow-leafed Kodaimai rice along with their local green-leafed Tsugaru, a Roman variety, to create the colored patterns in the time between planting and harvesting in September.Source: Inakadate

Rice-paddy art was started there in 1993 as a local revitalization project, an idea that grew from meetings of the village committees.
In the first nine years, the village office workers and local farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year.
But their ideas grew more complicated and attracted more attention.
In 2005, agreements between landowners allowed the creation of enormous rice paddy art.
A year later, organizers used computers to precisely plot planting of the four differently colored rice varieties that bring the images to life.
Closer to the image, the careful placement of the thousands of rice plants in the paddy fields can be seen. The different varieties of rice plants grow alongside each other to create the masterpieces.
Hoax-Slayer Commentary:
This set of images circulates via email and has also been posted to numerous blogs and online communities. The message that accompanies the images claims that they depict giant living works of art made by the careful planting of different varieties of rice. Although the images may look as if they have been digitally created in an image manipulation program, they are in fact real and are indeed created from rice plants as described in the message.

Working as a Team
"A pod of bottlenose dolphins off the coast of Florida have developed a
remarkable hunting strategy in order to catch fish. Another awesome
thing about this technique is that only one female in the pod can
create this ring, and it's always counterclockwise. "
